Sport Activities Czech, especially young people, love to sport and they are outdoor oriented. It is easy to find somebody to take a walk with out of the city to beautiful Czech countryside or to ride a bike to the mountains especially in summer. Czechs tend to spend the whole weekends outside the cities. If you have to stay in the city, visit one of the fitness centers, go to swim or go jogging to the nearest park. You will not have a chance to enjoy jogging so much on the streets because of the air pollution.

Fitness Centers

There is at least one fitness center or gym in every city in Czech Republic and a lot in Prague. Find the addresses in the yellow pages while you are there or consult locals. Remember, big hotels usually have fitness center with gym, swimming pool, sauna and provides massage therapy. They are usually open for public. While you are in the city center the most recommended are:

Swimming Pools

There are several swimming pools in Prague. The biggest and the famous one, Swimming Stadium Podoli (Plavecky stadion Podoli), is located on Podolske nabrezi. From Wenceslas Square take tram No 3 to the Dvorce stop (about 20 minutes) and walk ahead (about 3 minutes). The stadium is on your left. It is open from 6 am to 10 pm weekdays, from 8 am to 8 pm on weekends. There is one 50 meter pool inside, one 50 meter pool and one 30 meter pool outside. Be careful and leave your valuables in safe box at the desk, not in lockers!

Rent a Bike

Czech countryside is nice place to ride a bike especially in summer. Although there are no bicycle lanes you will make a great time riding through the undulating romantic scenery full of the small villages, meadows, ponds and forests. Also you will have a chance to check out your shape in the mountains. But it is not the best idea to start your bike tour from any big city because of the heavy traffic and the air pollution there. Use the train to escape from the city instead.
